How Far To Go Down On Siding

During my time working for james hardie i very rarely got calls from homeowners that wanted to submit a warranty claim for their hardie siding.

Would have been nice to show the proper way to finish siding down to a patio. Hardie siding requires a minimum 2 gap from all hard surfaces like decks or rooflines and at least 8 from any soft surfaces like grass dirt or gravel. Measure the bottom piece of siding to the proper length which is the length of the wall to the roof line minus 2 inches. 2 50 8mm for residing.

When it is higher from the ground splashing water onto the wood is minimized. Wood siding should be 4 or so from the ground whether that be soil or solid surface.
