Don t put nails any closer to the edge of the roof than 1 inch.
How do you lay rolled roofing.
Step 1preparing to install rolled roofing prepare the roofing cut the roll roofing into lengths long enough to cover one run across the shed roof or of 18 whichever fits your shed better and lay them out on a flat surface to smooth them out.
Measure 35 inches up from the eaves at several intervals along the roof and mark them.
Overlap the next strip of roofing material with the first by at least 4 inches.
Snap a chalk line as a guide for the first layer roofing.
Then apply roofing cement evenly around the roof edges where these strips are going to go.
Lay the first strip of material so that it overhangs the drip edges of your roof by about a quarter inch.

Attach the strip to the roof every 3 inches with nails pulling it tight as you go.
